Cypress Extends Fast Asynchronous SRAM Portfolio to 12 Mbits
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 11, 2002--
Cypress Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE:CY), the leader in the
fast asynchronous SRAM market, today expanded its fast asynchronous
portfolio to include the industry's first 12-Mbit device. With the
broadest SRAM portfolio in the industry, Cypress offers densities
ranging from 4 Kbit to 16 Mbit for products targeting digital signal
processing (DSP) and applications such as asymmetrical digital
subscriber line (ADSL) modems.
"As a pioneer in fast asynchronous SRAMs, Cypress continues to
meet customer demand for cost-effective solutions," said Walt
Anderson, tactical product manager for Cypress's Memory Products
Division. "This higher-density, smaller-footprint SRAM will allow
designers to upgrade existing systems and save board space and cost by
using a single 12-Mbit device instead of several lower density SRAMs."
The new 12-Mbit asynchronous SRAM is manufactured using Cypress's
0.15-micron, RAM7(TM) process technology. This cost-effective process
enables speeds of up to 8 ns and offers a 512-Kbit x 24 organization
in a 119-pin BGA package. The CY7C1012AV offers a high-density,
low-cost device for high-performance applications.
Availability and Price
Engineering samples of the 12-Mbit asynchronous fast SRAMs --
including the x24, 3.3V -- are available now. Production quantities
will be available in November with prices starting at $40 in volumes
of 1,000 units.
